“The paintings combine literal and abstract imagery with the aim of getting at different levels of perception. When I am in the rainforest (or anywhere for that matter) whatever I’m looking at is generally colored by subconscious thoughts and associations superimposed on the scene at hand. So, this is my way of illustrating how I view things. I could go into great detail about specific subjective associations that I play with in the paintings but I prefer the viewer interpret the pictures from his or her own perspective.”
